There is never a good time for cancer.

But cancer doesn’t care.

It shows up how it wants, when it wants, where it wants. And all we can do is adjust our lives.

My nephew’s cancer is back. Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Cancer of his blood; our blood.

His name is Brandon, and if you are the praying type, I would love your protective words around his growing, fighting body.

The only benefit to having four family members battle cancer is that I’m familiar with the process. I’ve been here before and know what to prioritize.

There are three things I’m going to put all of my focus on for the next two months:

  1. Family.
  2. Writing my stories.
  3. Helping my Write Your Friggin’ Book Already participants write their stories.

I’m starting this blog back up.

For a few months now, I’ve been secretly blogging behind the scenes, working on drafts, trying to figure out what I want from the experience. For years, I’ve longed to get back to that intimate feeling blogging gave us back at the start of the Millenium. Social media feels like I’m performing, but blogging feels like I’m sending letters to a dear friend – which you are.

My readers are my family. You light up my life. Your stories bring me more joy than I can express.

I will keep sending you love letters via this blog and the School for Writers newsletter.

I will keep showing up completely and fully for the people in my Write Your Friggin’ Book Already™ program.

I will keep sharing my stories with you and helping you tell your stories.

And I hope you will keep sharing your stories with me as well. I hope you will respond to my emails and let me know what’s going on in your life.

Because I want to know about you too.

Write Your Friggin’ Book Already™ membership is still launching.

We’re still opening my new version of Write Your Friggin’ Book Already next week, one that allows you to saty for as long as you need and to get community, courses, and coaching all in one place.

It brings me so much joy to help you all write your stories that I want to keep that in my life and show up fully for those who sign up.

If writing your book right now would bring you joy, I’d love to have you in the program.

Because the world needs your story now more than ever.

Some things have to go.

When life is chaotic and crisis hits, it’s so important to let go of what isn’t serving you so you can focus on what is.

Social media didn’t make my priority list, so you won’t see me on Instagram or Facebook for awhile.

The School for Writers podcast also didn’t make that list, so we’re postponing Season 3 for a few more months.

Also, regularity didn’t make the list, so my emails might be going from once a week updates to sporadic love letters sent when my heart desires.

Thank you for understanding these changes.

Thanks for sharing your stories with me. Thanks for reading my stories when I share them.

This is how we make the world a better place. This is how we survive the chaos.

With so much love,

Lauren

P.S. How are you doing? How are you doing really? Let me know in the comments.
